How do I find your farm?
Here is the address for your GPS: 13001 Creagerstown Rd Thurmont, MD 21788 or just search “Winterbrook Farms”
If you don’t see all of our activities from the road, you are not at the right place! You might be at the back of our farm. Make sure you are on Creagerstown Rd (MD 550) and look for our “Open” flags near our parking field/ticket building. There will also be hay bales with either sunflowers or pumpkins on them at the entrance. Parking will be in the grassy field in front of the ticket building. Look for other cars! If you are in the gravel parking lot, that is parking for our Market only.
Is parking free?
Parking is free at our farm. Please follow the signs and direction from our staff members for where to park.
Are dogs/pets allowed?
Due to our insurance policy, we are NOT permitted to allow pets at the farm. We are sure that your pet is friendly, but we simply are not permitted to allow pets other than registered service animals. If you bring a pet to our farm, we unfortunately will have to ask you to leave. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation!
Do you accept credit cards?
Yes! All types are accepted. Checks are NOT accepted.
What does admission include?
Admission is $10 per person on Fridays, and $12 per person on Saturdays & Sundays. Ages 2 and under are free! You can enjoy hours of fun for the whole family! It includes over 20+ activities at the farm. The only activities that require an additional fee are: the Apple Cannons, sunflowers picked from the field and the pumpkins picked from the pumpkin patch.
Do I have to pay admission to shop at the Farm Market?
You do NOT have to pay admission if you are only shopping at the Farm Market. Please park in our Farm Market parking (in front of the 3 big turkey barns) and enter the Farm Market through the front entrance. You will not be allowed into the other areas of the farm without paying admission.
Do you allow alcohol or smoking on the farm?
We do our best to provide a family-friendly environment. Therefore, for the overall experience of our guests, we don’t allow alcohol on the property (except for special ticketed events where we bring in vendors) and smoking is only permitted in the parking lot. You may use your wristband to re-enter the farm if you choose to smoke in our parking lot.
Are concessions available? May I bring my own food in?
Concessions are available! Our concessions stand has items such as Hamburgers/Cheeseburgers, Hot Dogs, Pulled Pork or Brisket Sandwiches, French Fries, Apple Cider Donuts, Kettle Corn, Fresh Lemonade, Local Apple Cider, etc.
You are welcome to bring in your own food as well! We have a picnic area in The Big Barn which is first come first serve.
Are hayrides to the sunflower/pumpkin patch included?
Hayrides to the U-Pick fields are included with admission. You will pay for the sunflowers or pumpkins that you pick.
What is your weather policy?
Always check our Facebook page and home page of our website or call before visiting the farm if it has a chance of rain. We only completely close if it is pouring rain all day. Since some activities are outside, please dress for the weather. Wear old shoes and warm clothes! After rain, the field and grass areas can get muddy. Remember, it is your choice to visit our farm on days with possible inclement weather. Therefore, we are not able to issue refunds once you have ENTERED the farm.
If you purchased tickets online and we close for rain, your tickets will be AUTOMATICALLY refunded for that day. No need to call!
Do you have a Photography Policy?
Yes! Please find our Photography Policy here.
You are allowed to take pictures at our farm. Please tag us on social media!
If you are a professional photographer looking to book a session for your clients, you may either come during our weekend hours on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays (everyone must pay admission) or schedule one of our photography sessions. Please see our Photography Policy for more information. To book a Thursday session, please see our Photographer Pass.
What is your restroom situation?
As a working farm, we are only open to the public 8 weekends of the year, and we unfortunately don’t have access to a sewer system to handle the visitors we get. Therefore, we have portable restrooms, and we do try to keep them as clean as possible! You also have a wristband that will get you entrance all day, and there are fast food restaurants within a couple miles of the farm!
Do any activities have age requirements?
There are no age restrictions on any of our activities, but younger ones may need assistance from a parent or guardian on activities such as the Apple Cannons and Ziplines.
Is the farm handicap accessible?
While we do everything we can so that everyone can enjoy the activities, our farm is a working farm and mostly grass. Some of the paths are dirt or stone. Some small strollers and wagons may have trouble in the corn field especially.
Do you have group discounts/reservations?
Group discounts are available for groups of 20 or more. Reservations must be made in advance. Please visit our Reservations page for more information.
Is the farm owned by a bunch of attorneys?
You’d be surprised, but we get this question a lot! The answer is no.
Our last name is “Lawyer”, hence “Lawyer’s Winterbrook Farms.”
The farm was started by our father Jan Lawyer who passed away in December 2013 after a long and hard battle against brain cancer. Lawyer’s Winterbrook Farms is a full-time hay farm. We make over 300 acres of hay in the spring, summer and fall and deliver to farms all over Maryland!
